December 1, 2021 at 1:09 amI sold several pieces of jewelry to La Jolla Gems and then I brought in a Rolex daydate all diamond 18kt gold watch to sell. They told me it was not 18kt and they wouldn’t give me more than $5,000 for it. I took it to Prospect Jeweler on the same street in La Jolla that I also had done businees with. I told him I bought it as 18kt gold but now I wasn’t sure. Even if it was Stainless steel it was all still diamonds so he bought it for $9000. The man from La Jolla Gems went into his store and was ranting to him that it was fake and he was stupid to pay that much. Prospect Jewelers then called me and I went back into the store and gave them the money back and said I would get it checked out. One of the owners of Prospect Jewelers took it to a Rolex dealer in La Jolla and they said it was gold. I still wanted to make sure it was really a Rolex and 18kt so the next day I took it to a Rolex dealer in downtown San Diego.. He took the band off to check the serial number and took the watch apart and said it was a real Rolex and it was 18kt. I sold him the watch for $12,000. I realize this is a long note but I want to illustrate how poorly they treated a returning customer and how they wanted to low ball me on the price and even to YELL, yes Yell at another jeweler and call me out as a fraud. I will NEVER step foot in that store again!!!!!.
